This summer, while preparing a family dinner with my aunt Patsi, she explained the bag of radishes sitting on her counter - a veggie that rarely graces her table. She said she previously had radishes at her friend's cottage served raw with a bowl of salt. She said they were delicious and wanted to do the same for dinner this evening. So I prepped them, washing, halving and plating. Then, we tasted them. And they were .......


It seems that Patsi's friend's radishes were sweet and delicious while ours were bitter. Not to be thwarted I suggested that we barbecue them, because isn't everything better when barbecued?? So I tossed the radishes in some olive oil, salt and pepper and grilled them in a grilling basket. We made a nice little dipping sauce and what a treat!!! They became sweet, rich and surprisingly tasty.
