I spied green tomatoes in the grocery store this week and was very excited. My mother introduced me to green tomatoes and the simple deliciousness of this seasonal little gem. It was this time last year I lost my mom and so the return of this memory in the produce aisle almost brought me to tears.

This blog post is not so much a recipe (although there is a simple recipe at the end) but a gentle nudge to go buy a few green tomatoes or another fruit or veg you've never tried and make your own memories.
My favourite way to cook green tomatoes is very simple. Heat up a saute pan, slice your tomatoes about half an inch thick. Melt some butter in your pan and when it has melted add your tomato slices. Sprinkle them generously with salt and pepper. When they are nicely browned on one side, flip them and brown on the other. Remove and eat. Seriously, that simple.
